אֲבִיל‏ n.m. mourner

mourner JLAtg, Gal, PTA, Syr, JBA, LJLA. TgJ Is61:3 : לְיַאָשָא לַאְבֵילֵי צִיוֹן‏ to comfort Zion's mourners. FTP Lev10:19 : ולית איפשר לאבילא למיכל מינה‏ it is impossible for the mourner to eat from it. PJ Lev10:19 : הלא מעשרא תניינא איתפקד די לא למיכול אביל מיניה‏ has it not been commanded that a mourner may not eat of the second tithe [See Mishnah Maaser Sheni chapt. 5: לֹא אָכַלְתִּי בְאֹנִי מִמֶּנּוּ]. PJ Lev13:45 : כאבילא יהי לביש‏ he should be dressed like a mourner.

adj. : mournful (see note) CPA, Syr, BabMBK, LJLA. TgO Gen37:35 : אֲרֵי אֵיחוֹת לְוָת בְרִי כִיד אַבִילנָא לִשאוֹל‏ for I shall go down to my son, while mourning, to Sheol. TgEsth² 6:11 : כד אביל וחפי רישיה‏ .
